Braveheart Supports Wallace Warriors20 Apr 2010Wallace Warriors is the junior section of Stirling Bike Club and there are usually 30 to 40 kids turn up at our training session on a Thursday night at Beechwood Park in Stirling. According to Scottish Cycling, we are now the largest group of youngsters being coached in Scotland and we were voted Club of the Year 2009. We have limited space to train due to the lack of lighting in the park. The floodlights that we have bought with Braveheart Funding have made training easier throughout the winter nights. We learn different bike skills, and put these into practice during our end of night races, when our competitive sides come out. We have great coaches, including our head coach Donald, who was named Active Stirling Coach of the Year at Stirling Castle in November.
I have been going to the club since May last year and have made lots of new friends and rivals! When I first went to the club I had only tried mountain biking, but I now have had the opportunity to try road, cyclocross and track riding. I love all types of biking and use the skills learnt at the club to great effect in my racing. The lights have meant we could train and meet up with our friends throughout the winter – Thanks again Braveheart.
