Crazy Dutch & Team Limpet Technology

Eileen Roe | Tuesday 15th June, 2010

Just yesterday Holland went crazy! We took a trip on the bikes into Arnhem to top up our dongo at the vodaphone shop & everywhere you looked all you could see was orange! So in case you haven’t guessed why yet... Holland’s first match in the world cup took place & they love it! In the time that the match took place the roads went real quiet (I’m sure only a couple of cars went past our house which is a reassembly a busy road!) Flags hanging out the car windows, people dressed in orange from head to toe & in the city centre a party was taken place with “cheesy” Dutch music! We’re guessing everyone took a holiday from work because there were hundreds of people everywhere. Been in Holland now for month now & can’t wait to go home for a bit which is the end of this week.  Racing has improved alot since my last update. Being in the top 20 most of the race helps heaps & I'm moving through the bunch alot easier now & staying there. My best result so far has been a 4th place in a crit where Miss Cullen was on the top of the podium, it was a disappointment coming in 4th as it would have been good result with two Scots on the podium but at the same time I was pleased at a decent result & my progress.  From then on both of us have been bringing in a good amount of money placing in nearly every prime in the past crits & the final placing. I’ve earned more money at one weekend of racing this year than I ever did with last year’s racing or at races back home all together! In the races I’m guesting for Kate’s team “moving ladies” which I owe many thanks to the management for all the help they’ve provided already.  If there’s no racing on during the week every Tues night is “racing” at Papandal, 45mins cycle away from our house so it’s a good warm up before we pay 3euors for a well organised night of racing. All groups ride together for an hour round a couple of k circuit. The first group which includes the juniors & women sprint it out after 1hr+3laps & can continue racing in the bunch but not as to get in the way of the other groups final sprint which is only understandable. We also have to option of motor pacing (which so far has been in horrible rain!) behind the 125cc bike we brought over in the van with us.

As Kate mentioned in her last diary entry we’re now in “team limpet technology” which now appears on the racing licence. Kate managed to bring about an awesome deal involving the major sponsor “Limpet Technology” willing to invest in women’s racing & I was very lucky the deal stretched to another rider. A MASSIVE thanks goes out to Limpet Technology whose invested money on helping us stay here in Holland & also HUGE thanks to the other sponsors of the team bellow,
