The Bad Luck Continues..

David Smith | Thursday 19th May, 2005

I really wish I had some good news to report however things continued on a general downward trend at the Lincoln which is in fact the only race I've done since the trip to Italy. I was doing ok but had missed the break which went on lap 2 and then on lap 5 I had a close encounter with a bollard not far from the start of the climb. It was my own fault really, I just completely forgot there were two of them and hit the second one snapping the forks clean off and splitting the downtube! For the second time this year I was taken to hospital with a suspected broken collar bone but fortunately it turned out to be a less serious injury. I had basically just put the shoulder joint out of place and I've been having physio treatment at FASIC courtesy of The Highland Sports Institute to try and get me back into some kind of shape before the RAS which starts Sunday.

I'd also like to thank my coach Mark for letting me stay at his place while I await my new frame (which is yet to arrive!) and also to Ken Thomson for lending me his winter bike so that I could carry on training! Cheers Ken! Anyway hopefully that is the last mishap I'll have for this season and I hope I'll have some more positive news to report in my next entry!

a bientot.
