Hi Willie,
This is the first time that we have been told to send individual entry forms for the Championship TTT. I may be blind, but having looked at the "Blue Book", I can can only see a requirement to name the riders. I would have thought that the riders signing the signing on sheet would cover all the legalities. Can you please point out where the "Blue Book" asks for individual entry forms.

I would imagine quite a few teams will get caught out by this, Would be a shame to have a weakened championship as a result!
That said individual entry is now in the post, now to track down teammates... |

Just had a request from the orginiser to send 'signed' entry forms by thursday for all riders?? I will try and get this done but not holding my breath, she did say we could e-mail them and the would be printed for us to sign on the day,
As this is the 1st event that has been done i see no problem doing this, But..
What is the point? I have orginised races and the entry forms go straight in the bin! no one ever wants to see them and in this days of not creating waste why are we doing this?
If the race was on entry C or some other electronic system there would be no need?

It makes no sense to me either Ali. except in the case of a younger rider who requires a signed parental consent. But that could be shown on the day.
But then Davie lines was DQed from an ERC race earlier this year, after having signed on, riden and won. Seemingly he had not handed in a signed entry form.........

I spoke to Ruth Volley at SC this morning and she agrees that there is no rule at present requiring indivudal entry forms for each rider of a team. I beleive Gail has been advised that she should accept any team entries that have been submitted on one form. Thanks to Ruth for sorting things out so quickly

The disclaimer on the signing on sheet is the same as the one on the entry form !!! it would also save time at events like the cyclocross if the signed sign on sheet would 'do the same job' as the completed entry form !! the only time an entry on line would need a form would be the when parental consent is required (i would have thought !!).
What would happen if it was electronic entry !!

Folks Spoke to the event Comm Ian Sinclair and he advises that Gail can take one entry form with four names on it, but every rider will still either supply on the day or fill in on the day an individual entry form with full details and sign it. This will assist the organiser in case of any issues before , during or after the event.
Please also remember to bring your SC/BC Membership card ( minimum silver membership) or you will not be allowed to start.
Cheers Willie. |

I hope Gail is not put off by this wrangeling! having had hassel with orginising races its easy to be put off by this type of thing.
Glad to see that we don't have to rush off and post lots of entries and we can take care of this on the day,
cheers Ali |

Lets just say its not for the faint hearted or thin skinned.Having never organised a race before its good to do a nice easy one to start with! Like other volunteers, the only reason i volunteer is for cyclists to have an event to cycle in. No volunteers = no cycling events. Its easy to be put off. Firstly, by the sh*tty letter you get from the police before you even start, the ten page risk assessment, the hassle of trying to getting riders to complete a one page form with all of their details so that if anything untoward does happen i have a bit of paper with your address, etc. rather than telling the police "i only know him as Jimmy from X club but i have no idea where he lives - wait until i ask his pals". Apart from that its a piece of cake!

Well i for one think u are doing a great job, to promote a national champs or your 1st event takes a lot of guts!
I aggree the letter from the police can be off putting, and though it might not seem it every on who races REALLY appreciate the efforts u are putting in

Scottish Team TT Championship - Sunday 22 August 2010 Eglinton Country Park, Irvine Sign-on from 07:00 - Start: 08.00 Chief Commissaire - Ian Sinclair Time Keepers - George Walker and Audrey Walker Organiser - Gail Kilbane for Fullarton Wheelers CC Course description Start at Eglinton Park lamp post R4, 10 start . Proceed onto Eglinton interchange and take slip road to join the A78 Southbound. Proceed on A78 until reaching the Warrix interchange and take first exit left onto the A71 and follow through the Crematorium RBT and proceed on the A71 until reaching the Moorefield RBT Turn and retrace to the Warrix interchange and take the first exit onto the A78 Southbound. Proceed on A78 Southbound passing through the Papermill RBT and carry straight on to turn at the Monkton RBT turn and retrace Northbound on the A78 till you reach the Papermill RBT . Straight through onto the A78 Northbound and carry on to finish at the layby just before the slip road onto the Eglinton interchange. Total distance: 27miles. Please note that there is a possibility that marshals will not be at all junctions. It is therefore recommended that all riders familiarise themselves with the course prior to the race. Please take care at all junctions and roundabouts - marshals cannot direct or stop traffic – normal rules of the road apply and you are responsible for your own safety. Eglinton Park Staff have asked that riders do not park on the grass alongside the road through the park. Please use the main car park and the overflow car park which is a few metres further along on the right - between the two there's plenty of parking for everyone. Excellent work Willie, getting East Ayrshire Council to re-surface the A71 just for the event....most organisers would be content with getting the worst of the potholes filled. Hats off to the Fullarton |
