Can I just say a very big THANK YOU to all the helpers and officials that made The Girvan into the best stage race seen for a long time (not my words but that of many who know).
A special thanks goes out to the people who volunteered because of my plea on the Braveheart forum: John Davies of Glenmarnock Jim Daly of Johnstone Wheelers and Martin Coopland of Falkirk BC
They all quickly became part of the team and did a tremendous job and I hope they are willing to come back next year.
To all the rest of the forum readers, don't be shy at coming forward, The Girvan is not a closed shop and we will always need more personel than we have. So if you are interested in helping for next year (a very special 40th year) then get in touch with me at race.organiser@girvanrace.info and we will give you training if needed or if you are experienced then we will take a note of your details and get in touch nearer the time (Easter in 2009 is 11th - 13th April)
Many thanks to all the people who e mailed to say how much they enjoyed the event (especially once it had finished) and to all the spectators who braved the cold.
There are some spectacular pictures on the event web www.girvanrace.info and a really good one of how to roll off the bike at around 50mph as demonstrated by James McCallum which should be up in a few hours-days.
And while I'm on - well done to the Scottish contingent who made their presence felt in the race. Good to see so many well set up Scots teams taking part. Long may it continue!
Thanks to Ian Sinclair for taking me round the course to let me take pictures. If anyone wants pictures of their races I can do this as long as I can get transport round the course.
